The results of the tests have a variable validity duration:
- The A category remains valid for 10 years
- The B, C or D category is only valid for 3 years
Prior to a first registration for any initial program, except at the Oriental Literature Institute (Institut de Lettres Orientales-ILO) and the Islamic and Christian Studies Institute (Institut d'Études Islamo-Chrétiennes), the student must have obtained an "A" Level at the aptitude test in French language.
All candidates, of whatever title (French Baccalaureate, TCF, DELF, French nationality or coming from a country where French is the official language, etc.) are called to take this test.
However, candidates having accomplished at least the last year of their secondary studies outside Lebanon without having been ranked "A", are authorized to register for an initial program on two conditions: to attend improvement courses organized by the Centre d'étude des Langues Vivantes (CEL) of the USJ; to obtain "A" level in French before their second semester.
Candidates to a registration at the Faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dental Medicine, Engineering and at the School of Translators and Interpreters (École de traducteurs et d'interprètes de Beyrouth) do not enjoy the aforementioned authorization. They must have been ranked "A" at the aptitude test in French language before the final deadline for their first registration. Subject to this condition, the candidates ranked "B" at the aptitude test can register to the admission competitive exams at these institutions.
Why?
1 – The USJ wants to ensure that the candidates have the minimum of skills required for attending university courses.
2 – The USJ also wishes to maintain the quality of the French language in its courses.
3 – The USJ wants to allow the students who have passed the baccalaureate to bridge gaps in the practice of French.
Registration for the aptitude test
Three ways of registration are possible:
You can register individually or collectively through your school establishment. Particular conditions apply to the students having made their secondary studies abroad.
