Scientific education
USJ aspires to form students in Lebanon and the Arab countries, regardless of affiliation or social class, by giving them the best possible preparation and furnishing them with all they need to perform their function and profession with complete competence and thus share in the development of their country and the Arab world.

Cultural education
USJ accepts cultural and linguistic variety as an asset and is bent on strengthening dialogue as the means to open society to change and development while preserving its personal cultural richness.
USJ faithful to its long history and attached to Lebanese cultural identity, persists in developing the culture which is expressed in Arabic language as well as developing the culture expressed in French. However, the focus of USJ on Arabic and French does not hinder the use of other languages, especially English in teaching and scientific research.

Intellectual and spiritual education
USJ aims at being an intellectual source instilling reflection and consideration, offering the students a well balanced education for full human development, open to spiritual values and based on the principles of freedom, respectability, critical sense, peaceful initiatives and social solidarity. It insists, in all fields, on respect for man, guarding his religious liberty and his convictions. It aims especially at strengthening Islamo-Christian dialogue.

Openness, excellence and development
USJ aspires to be an active member among the university institutions of the world., a pole of excellence and distinction in the Arab world in basic and applied scientific research and in its renewal and creativity in learning and teaching, growing and developing continuously.
