Home / MESSAGE OF THE RECTOR: TOGETHER, ONWARD

Dear instructors, administrative staff, and students,

Over the past five years, Lebanon has faced successive hardships, leaving deep scars in our collective memory. Yet, each challenge has been met with unwavering resilience. As we remember the victims of this war, we stand in solidarity with the countless refugees who continue their journey with dignity. Initiatives such as Opération 7e Jour, USJ Campus Ministry, Al Mazeed, and SVE are already mobilized, providing vital support.

In times of turmoil and uncertainty, the words of educator Paulo Freire resonate: “Where there is life, there is incompleteness.” As we mark 150 years of our University, we reaffirm our commitment to education and the relentless pursuit of progress. As our esteemed alumnus Albert Kostanian wisely noted, this milestone is a call to “stand firm in our mission”, even when the path ahead seems uncertain. With resolve, we advance through education, shaping history as it unfolds.

The University will fully resume academic and administrative activities on Monday, October 7, 2024. Courses will be available in person for those who can attend and online for students affected by the ongoing crisis. Each faculty, institute, and school will tailor its approach to its unique circumstances, ensuring uninterrupted access to education for all.

Courses will be accessible via Moodle and Teams, with each institution providing detailed guidelines on remote learning, hybrid formats, and final exams. The situation will be reassessed weekly or as needed.

Students are encouraged to reach out to their institutions with any questions or concerns for appropriate support.

May God bless you all and protect our beloved Lebanon.

Rector
