Francesco Carrino

Senior researcher at University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland

Dr. Francesco Carrino is currently a senior researcher at HumanTech institute (Technology for Human Well-being, www.humantechinstitute.ch) at University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland - Fribourg (HES-SO//Fribourg) where he co-leads the research axis "new technologies & health".
Francesco completed his PhD in collaboration with University Fribourg where he is member of the research group DIVA (Document, Image and Voice Analysis).
His PhD aimed to study the contributions of physiological signals (e.g., electromyography, electroencephalography) to improve gesture recognition and make gestural interaction"always-available".
Francesco participated in many classes of bachelor and master level, providing seminars about Multimodal interfaces, Brain-Computer Interface and machine learning. In addition, he supervised many bachelor and master students.

2009 Habilitation to the engineering profession.
2008 Master of Science, Computer Science, University of Florence - Italy. Title: "Active tracking of multiple targets based on information gain".
