It is a center for the study of ancient and medieval civilizations, covering humanities and religious sciences. Since 2005, the center is affiliated to the Oriental Library, and since 2014 to the Institute of Oriental Letters under the direction of Nadine Abbas. The Center is located on the premises of the Institute. It is equipped with a working room. Objective: To promote ancient and medieval studies in Lebanon by producing quality research and by encouraging exchanges between researchers around the Center's activities. Steering Committee : - Father Salah Aboujawdé, Director of the Institute of Oriental Letters (ILO). - Mrs. Nadine Abbas, head of the Centre and head of the Philosophy Department at ILO. - Mr Toni Qahwaji, Lecturer at ILO and the Lebanese University. - Mr Walid Khoury, Teacher at ILO. - Mrs. Micheline Sainte-Marie Bittar, Director of the Oriental Library and Administrative Director of USJ's Mélanges review. Advisors : The center includes teachers from USJ and other Universities. Research activities at the center : The center organizes a yearly symposium and a series of lectures in the following disciplines: literature (Arabic language and literature, philosophy, islamology) and humanities (history). Research axes Medieval Christian Arabic literature in the Middle Ages: A research project is currently being carried out at the Center: - Arab Christian Literature: Philosophy and Theology. Critical publications and studies of unpublished texts (in progress for 3 years) - Mrs. Nadine Abbas.
