The Religions of the Middle East : Judaism

This course explores Jewish history, practice, texts, and culture. The Jewish people are one of the most ancient peoples of the earth. They established a kingdom in the Ancient Near East. The ancient Israel neighbored the ancient Semitic nations and lived under Assyrian, Chaldean, Persian, Greek, Roman, Arab, Crusaders rules, afterward they were scattered in the world. The Hebrew Bible is considered among the world cultural legacies. It contributed in the formation of the human thought. Judaism is a prerequisite for understanding the two other monotheistic Semitic religions, i.e., Christianity and Islam.
