Cette unité d’enseignement offre à l’étudiante les connaissances théoriques nécessaires pour assurer un suivi holistique de la femme et de sa famille pendant les périodes pré, per et postnatales. Elle sera en mesure de suivre la grossesse, de gérer un accouchement normal et de prendre en charge le postpartum, tout en identifiant les complications potentielles et en assurant une prise en charge globale et multidisciplinaire. Elle contribue au développement de la compétence 1 « Assurer une prise en charge holistique de la gestante en période anténatale » et de la compétence 2 « Gérer l’accouchement naturel en garantissant des pratiques sécurisées à la dyade mère-nouveau-né ».
