In Geneva, "dinner in support of the USJ students" at the invitation of Mr. Gilbert Ghostine - November 22, 2022

A dinner in support of the USJ students was organized by Mr. Gilbert Ghostine, on November 22, 2022, at the Auberge d'Onex, on the occasion of the visit of the Rector of USJ, Prof. Salim Daccache to Geneva with the Director of the Fondation USJ, Mrs. Cynthia Ghobril Andrea.

This solidarity meeting was launched by the faithful alumnus, and great friend of the University, Mr. Gilbert Ghostine, CEO of Firmenich, the world's largest privately-owned Fragrance and Taste company. Member of the USJ High Council, Mr. Ghostine invited with the Rector of USJ, about twenty friends, Alumni, businessmen and women, for the good cause so that higher education can remain accessible to all despite the crisis situation that continues to prevail in Lebanon.

During the convivial dinner, the Rector awarded Mr. Ghostine, the University's Medal of Honor as a sign of great appreciation for his unwavering commitment and continued dedication to support the USJ and its students.

Another highlight of this evening was the signing, in front of the guests, of the partnership that was concluded between the USJ and its Foundation, chaired and represented by its Rector, Prof. Salim Daccache s.j., and the Association Liban Avenir Meilleur (ALAM)-Suisse, represented by Mr. Charles Stauffer and Mr. Jad Karam.

The main objective of this agreement is to ensure that the most unfortunate students in Lebanon have a chance to receive an education, through this partnership which now allows USJ donors residing in Switzerland to receive tax deductions through ALAM.

This will also allow the solidarity amount of the contribution to be doubled by ALAM, which has committed to a matching gift to the USJ.

For your information, ALAM-Suisse association, established in 2020, aims to promote and support general-interest solidarity initiatives in favor of underprivileged people in Lebanon, either through direct support or through support to public and non-profit institutions operating in Lebanon. ALAM also aims to promote and preserve the essential Lebanese collective assets, including education, cultural heritage, environmental heritage and economic environment. www.alamsuisse.org
