Professor Hadi Y. KANAAN, Director of the Doctoral School – Sciences, Engineering, and Technology (EDSIT), Head of the Doctoral Studies Department at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (FIA), and a professor at Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ), has been awarded the prestigious 2023 IEEE Bimal Bose Award for Industrial Electronics Applications in Energy Systems by the Industrial Electronics Society of IEEE (Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers). This recognition is in honor of his significant contributions to the modeling and control of power electronic converters used in modern electrical networks and renewable energy systems.

A graduate in electromechanical engineering (Class of ‘91) from USJ, Professor Hadi Y. KANAAN earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering (Class of ’02) from École de Technologie Supérieure (ETS) in Montreal, Canada, and the prestigious Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) Diploma (Class of ’09) from the Université de Cergy-Pontoise, Paris, France. Furthermore, he has co-authored a book, contributed to three book chapters, holds a patent, and has published over 270 scientific articles.
