English for Academic Writing
The English for Academic Writing course prepares faculty to produce an academic research paper. The course has the following learning objectives:
• Manage the writing process to suit the task and situation by mastering genre and discipline-specific writing
• Evaluate and integrate external texts and sources by working with other people’s ideas and voices
• Control style, tone, voice, and structure in discipline-specific academic publications by finding your own voice
• Apply varied rhetorical strategies and approaches and avoid the common pitfalls of academic writers
• Write and edit collaboratively
• Use writing technologies and tools appropriately and ethically
