It was a great pleasure and honor for the Dean of USJ Business School, Prof. Fouad Zmokhol, to actively participate in the conference on microfinance organized by the Lebanese Micro-Finance Association (LMFA).
In his presentation, he highlighted several key priorities for advancing digital financial inclusion in Lebanon, particularly in support of MSMEs and underserved communities. Digital wallets, he noted, hold strong potential for integrating MSMEs and marginalized populations into the formal economy, reducing dependence on cash, and fostering greater transparency.
He emphasized that, in order to scale this transformation sustainably, Lebanon must:
• Establish a streamlined and inclusive regulatory environment
• Implement ongoing institutional reforms, including banking sector restructuring and proper enforcement mechanisms
• Invest in digital infrastructure and the digitization of public services
• Launch robust awareness and trust-building initiatives across all levels of society
