GenAI in Cinema and Education: Transforming Storytelling, Pedagogy, and Research

Led by Tobias Frühmorgen - Organized by IESAV – USJ In the framework of the Continuing Learning Program
Janvier 2026

Description: This 12-hour intensive workshop is specifically designed for cinema and media educators and researchers, interested in the profound implications of Generative AI (LLMs) for screenwriting, film studies, creative arts pedagogy and research. Participants should be keen to explore both the practical application of AI in storytelling and the methodologies for teaching and researching these evolving technologies. No prior knowledge of AI is needed. Participants will gain hands-on experience with AI for story generation, character development, and narrative structuring as well as critical thinking on the use of AI. We will explore pedagogical strategies for incorporating AI into screenwriting curricula (BA and MA levels), discuss the ethical considerations inherent in AI-driven creativity, and identify emerging research avenues. The workshop aims to foster a collaborative environment, encouraging participants to share expertise, develop shared vocabulary, and collectively outline adaptable teaching modules and research initiatives. This is an artistic-pedagogical endeavor designed to equip educators and researchers to lead in this new technological era.
