Friday, December 19, 2025

On Friday, December 19, 2025, the Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) held a naming ceremony at the Innovation and Sports Campus (CIS) to dedicate the Lifelong Learning Center in memory of Prof. Antoine Khoury. The dedication agreement was signed by Prof. Salim Daccache, SJ, Rector of USJ, and Mr. Anthony Rabih El Khoury, representing the late professor’s family, in the presence of the Khoury family, Prof. Nada Farhat Mchayleh, Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine (FMD), Prof. Carla Eddé, Vice-Rector for International Relations, and Ms. Cynthia-Maria Ghobril Andréa, Director of Fondation USJ. USJ officials and members of the FMD Council were also present.

The 125 m² facility, located on the third floor of Block C at the Dental Care Center within the USJ Medical Campus, is currently under construction. It is designed to meet the growing demand for postgraduate training and continuing professional development for dental practitioners.

The Center will serve Lebanese and international clinicians, advanced students, and residents, offering high-level learning, skills development, and opportunities for scientific exchange. Open to all oral health professionals, it aims to become a regional hub for specialized training programs tailored to the Arab world and neighboring regions.

Programs will include seminars, workshops, certification courses, and interdisciplinary training. The Center will host international experts and speakers, foster academic collaboration, and provide access to technological, clinical, and digital innovations. It will support evidence-based professional development and innovation in teaching through digital tools, simulation, and artificial intelligence.

By strengthening collaboration among local, regional, and international experts and advancing clinical skills, the Center will contribute to improved patient care. Through this initiative, USJ reaffirms FMD’s role as a leading academic institution and a regional reference in oral health education.

The Center now honors Prof. Antoine Khoury, a distinguished member of FMD. Though he is no longer with us, his memory lives on in the students and colleagues he guided. Through his knowledge, dedication, and humanity, he inspired and shaped generations of students. This naming pays tribute to his enduring legacy and the values he embodied.
