The signing ceremony for the Abdul Aziz Soueidan Endowment Scholarship Fund took place at the Rectorate of the Saint Joseph University of Beirut on April, Wednesday 23, 2025.

The agreement was signed between USJ, represented by its Rector, Prof. Salim Daccache, SJ, and Dr. Nada Soueidan, in the presence of Mrs. Cynthia-Maria Ghobril Andrea, Director of Fondation USJ, along with the widow of the late Abdul Aziz Soueidan and their son, Dr. Shawkeh Soueidan.

Dr. Nada Soueidan chose to contribute specifically to the “USJ 150 Years” campaign, at a time when the University is actively expanding its endowment fund to provide more scholarships to students and implement new strategic initiatives. These projects, aligned with USJ’s vision on its 150th anniversary, aim to strengthen academic excellence while promoting equal opportunities.

The Soueidan family established this fund in memory of Abdul Aziz Soueidan, a man of integrity and compassion who led a life of distinction and humanity. His lifelong dedication to education and philanthropy left a lasting impact, consistently championing access to knowledge and empowering young people to shape their futures.

Through his work, he exemplified integrity, compassion, and perseverance, inspiring excellence in those around him. The creation of this endowment scholarship honors his legacy, providing students with the support they need to pursue their studies while carrying forward the generosity that defined his life.

His children, Dr. Nada Soueidan, a dentist specializing in public health, and Dr. Shawkeh Soueidan, a cardiologist engaged in medical research, follow in his footsteps, translating their admiration and gratitude for their father into meaningful action.

Scholarships of this kind support students from modest backgrounds, ensure fair access to higher education, and demonstrate how a single act of generosity can transform lives. They embody the values of solidarity and compassion that are central to USJ’s mission.
