Visit of the Iraqi Delegation to Saint Joseph University of Beirut

As part of the “Restoring Mosul University Library” project, funded by the Italian government, a delegation from UNESCO Iraq, the Iraqi Ministry of National Education, and the University of Mosul, along with the Cultural Attaché at the Iraqi Embassy in Lebanon, visited Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) on December 3–4, 2025.

The delegation met at the USJ Rectorate with Professor Salah Abou Jaoude, SJ, Vice-Rector of USJ and representative of Professor Salim Daccache, SJ, Rector of USJ; the Vice-Rectors; Ms. Leila Kassatly Rizk, Director of the Social Sciences Library (BCSS) and the Phares Zoghbi Library (BPZ); and a team from the BCSS. The meeting began with presentations from both universities, followed by discussions on potential collaboration, focusing on the development of the Central Library of the University of Mosul and the strengthening of the skills of its staff.

 During the two-day visit, the delegation also held several meetings with the BCSS team and toured the BO, the MIM Museum, and the Museum of Lebanese Prehistory.
