Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) delivered a standout performance at the 2025 World Interuniversity Games in Barcelona, marking its 10th consecutive year at this prestigious global competition held November 11–16. USJ athletes demonstrated determination, skill, and competitive excellence across multiple sports disciplines.

Women’s Futsal: Exceptional Performance

USJ’s women’s futsal team delivered an impressive performance, winning six matches before narrowly losing 1–0 to the Slovak champions. They rebounded strongly to claim the bronze medal in a thrilling third‑place match against the Czech Republic.

Men’s Volleyball: Historic Top4 Finish

The men’s volleyball team recorded a series of victories throughout the tournament, advancing to the semifinals where they were defeated 2–0 by Lithuania. In the match for third place, they fought hard but fell short against Kuwait, finishing fourth overall — the best result in USJ’s history in this sport.

Tennis: Maria Braidy’s Standout Performance

Maria Braidy delivered an outstanding performance in tennis. After winning her group, she advanced through the Round of 32 and the Round of 16 before being eliminated in the quarterfinals. She thus finished the women’s singles in an excellent 5th place.

Table Tennis: Solid Top5 Placement

The USJ table tennis team competed at a high level, securing fifth place overall. They finished just behind teams from China, Slovakia, Lithuania, and Egypt.

Badminton: Strong Results and Individual Successes

Lebanese national champions in badminton, USJ’s team also finished in fifth place. Standout performances came from Chris Abi Younès and Mia Rahhal, who each advanced to the quarterfinals.

Broad Competitive Presence Across Sports

Beyond these highlighted results, USJ fielded competitive teams in other sports. Though not all advanced to the top‑8 this year, they delivered solid performances and challenged some of the world’s best university programs.

A successful Barcelona edition for USJ, once again confirming its place among the most committed, talented, and competitive university delegations. Congratulations to all the athletes!
