USJ Delegation Visits Georgetown University in Qatar to Strengthen Jesuit Collaboration in the MENA Region

On January 14–15, 2026, a distinguished delegation from Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) visited Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q), marking an important step in strengthening ties between the two institutions. Led by Prof. François Boëdec, SJ, Rector, and including Fr. Jad Chebli, SJ, Head Chaplain, and Prof. Carla Eddé, Vice-Rector for International Relations, the delegation held a series of high-level meetings with key Georgetown representatives: Fr. Mark Bosco, SJ, Vice President for Mission and Ministry (Georgetown University main campus); Safwan Masri, Dean of GU-Q; Fr. Ryan J. Maher, SJ, Visiting Assistant Professor; Brendan Hill, Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs; Anne Nebel, Associate Dean for Teaching, Learning and Assessment; Ken Grcich, Associate Dean for Student Affairs; John Crist, Director of Faculty Affairs; and Damien Tissot, Director of the French and Global Languages Programs.

Discussions focused on developing academic collaboration and fostering greater engagement among faculty and students, building on the institutions’ shared Jesuit educational mission.

The visit stands as a meaningful milestone in the ongoing development of regional and international partnerships among Jesuit higher education institutions, reflecting the Society of Jesus’ commitment to promoting strong and dynamic links between Jesuit institutions worldwide.
