Following the success of its first edition in 2019, the ESCWA Model Simulation is officially back, reaffirming its role as a flagship academic and experiential learning initiative for university students in Lebanon.
The ESCWA Model is an interactive simulation program designed to immerse students in the work, priorities, and decision-making processes of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). Through structured debates, policy discussions, and role-play exercises, participants engage with regional and global challenges while developing critical skills in diplomacy, negotiation, leadership, and multilateral cooperation.
This renewed edition is prepared in close collaborationbetween United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth, represented by its Student Life Office, and American University of Beirut, through its Center for Community Engagement, in coordination with the ESCWA Headquarters in Lebanon.
The simulation provides students with a hands-on experience in diplomacy, policy-making, and multilateral cooperation through structured role-play and policy discussions.
The 2026 edition will unfold across four key milestones from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.:
31 January – Opening Ceremony
14 February – Session at AUB
7 March – Session at USJ
