On June 6, 2025, USJ’s Faculty of Humanities officially became the Faculty of Humanities Ramez G. Chagoury, honoring the generous contribution of the Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury Foundation, a defining moment in the University’s history.
The signing ceremony in Paris brought together Prof. Salim Daccache, SJ, Rector of USJ, H.E. Gilbert Chagoury, Mr. Samir Assaf, President of the Board of Directors of Fondation USJ, and Tarek Farran, Esq.
For decades, the Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury Foundation has quietly championed education, health, and environmental initiatives, weaving a legacy of generosity, progress, and hope across Lebanon, Nigeria, the United States, and Europe.
By associating Ramez G. Chagoury’s name with such an iconic institution, the Chagoury family leaves a living legacy that will endure within the University’s walls and in the hearts of its communities. This visionary and profoundly human gesture, made in celebration of USJ’s 150th anniversary, reflects a simple truth: investing in education is investing in the future.
The name now displayed on the Faculty’s walls will serve as a guiding beacon for generations of students, a symbol of faith in youth, a commitment to passing knowledge forward, and a belief in the transformative power of learning.
Through this remarkable act of generosity, the Chagoury family not only secures its place in USJ’s history but also puts a part of itself into it. In every student who walks these halls, in every dream that takes root here, their legacy will continue to inspire hope and shape the future.
