Grounded in real-world practice, the Professional Training Center (CFP) at Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) is introducing a dairy processing techniques training program in partnership with Taanayel Les Fermes and the School of Mediterranean Agricultural Engineering (ESIAM) at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (FIA).

Designed as a practical response to the needs of the agri-food sector, this initiative brings together academic knowledge and hands-on industrial practice. The program is intended for a range of professionals within companies, including managers, technicians, and operators. It covers the full production cycle, with a focus on manufacturing practices, quality, safety, and process optimization.

At the launch ceremony, Prof. Fadi El Hage, Delegate of the Rector for Professional Development and Director of CFP, described the program as an important step in developing training that aligns with market expectations. He also highlighted the importance of lifelong learning, especially in sectors where performance relies on strong technical expertise and continuous innovation.

Prof. Wassim Raphael, Dean of FIA, spoke of a partnership built over time. He welcomed the partners from Taanayel Les Fermes and highlighted both the recognized quality of their products and the dedication of the teams behind this success. Prof. Wadih Skaff, Director of ESIAM, in turn, emphasized the institution’s role in supporting the agricultural and agri-food sectors in close collaboration with the private sector.

From the industry side, Mr. Hassan Fawaz, President of Taanayel Les Fermes, shared a vision centered on human capital, stressing that product quality depends above all on the skills and commitment of the teams. He also pointed to the Taanayel Training Academy as a way to structure and strengthen expertise.

Closing the event, Prof. François Boëdec, Rector of USJ, underlined that lifelong learning has become a major strategic priority. He noted that this program fully reflects the University’s mission to place knowledge at the service of society and to support the development of skills in an ever-evolving environment.

The ceremony continued with a panel discussion bringing together the different partners, offering a space for exchange on training challenges in the agri-food sector, before concluding with the official signing of the MoU formalizing the collaboration.
