Vincent Martin Battle was the United States ambassador to Lebanon from 2001 to 2004. A graduate of Georgetown University, he holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University Fluent in Arabic, he has served in Egypt, Syria, Libya, Oman and Pakistan. He is now living in Lebanon and teaching in its universities.
