In an atmosphere filled with gratitude and hope, the Gathering of School Principals of Lebanon 2025 took place at the Pierre Y. Abou Khater Amphitheater of Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ). This event, organized as part of the 150th anniversary of USJ, brought together over 300 people from all over Lebanon; from Tripoli to Tyre, passing through Chouf, Zahle and even Baalbek.

The ceremony was inaugurated with the national and university anthems, performed by the USJ Choir, lead by Mme Yasmina Sabbah. During her welcome speech, Mrs. Jana Aouad, Director of the Student Information and Orientation Office (SIO), greeted the guests while highlighting the importance of this moment of sharing among educational partners.

A video tracing the 150 years of USJ was shown prior to the Rector’s interference, Pr Salim Daccache s.j., who delivered a profound speech, deeply rooted in the University’s education mission. He reminded the audience that, since 1875, USJ has strived to transfer rigorous knowledge and humanistic vision of education, a mission made possible thanks to the vital partnership with Lebanese Schools.

During this gathering, organized by the SIO and presented by Mrs. Jana Aouad, three USJ alumni took the stage to share their experience and attachment to their alma mater. Among them was Albert Kostanian, economist and political analysist, who delivered a moving testimony about the fundamental role of USJ in his personal journey and in the shaping of Lebanon.

Another remarkable testimony was delivered by the filmmaker and art-therapist Zeina Daccache, who discovered a pedagogy based on collaboration, international openness and experimentation at the heart of USJ.

Carmen Bsaïbes, actress and director, took the stage to highlight how much her master’s degree in Cinema at USJ marked a decisive turning point in her career.

Louis Daou, a sixth-year medical student, spoke emotionally about his journey marked by perseverance and gratitude. Coming from a modest background, he earned his French baccalaureate with highest honors, but his financial situation limited his university options. A meeting with a representative from the SIO team introduced him to the scholarships offered by the University, and he successfully passed the entrance exam for Medicine

Shaza Husseini, a student at the Institute of Business Administration (IGE), also shared with emotion her deep attachment to USJ, a university she had admired since childhood.

USJ alumni and now mother, Katia Touma shared the process of choosing a university for her daughter. Impressed by the presentation of the SIO at her daughter’s school, she recognized in USJ the values, rigor and openness that marked her own time at the university.

The gathering wrapped up in a warm and convivial atmosphere, with a moving performance by the USJ Choir, followed by a dinner prepared by l’Atelier, the application restaurant of the IGE. This moment of sharing and celebration brought together the participants in a musical atmosphere, with songs performed by students of the Faculty of Medicine.
