Promoting Sustainable Development in Times of Crisis in Lebanese Guest Houses: Cultivating Opportunities for Growth This study explores the implementation of sustainable development practices in Lebanese guest houses during periods of crisis. Lebanon's hospitality sector, particularly guest houses, has been significantly impacted by ongoing economic, political, sanitary and social challenges, recently a war. This research aims to identify and promote sustainable initiatives that can help these guest houses not only survive but thrive, fostering growth and resilience in the face of adversity.Approach: The approach of this study involves a multi-faceted methodology: Literature Review: • Conduct a comprehensive review of existing literature on sustainable development practices in the hospitality industry, with a focus on crisis management and resilience. Case Studies: • Analyze successful examples of sustainable initiatives in guest houses within Batroun, Shouf and Baalbek regions. This will provide practical insights and best practices that can be adapted to the Lebanese context. Surveys and Interviews: • Conduct surveys and interviews with guest house owners, staff, and guests to gather firsthand information on current practices, challenges, and opportunities for sustainable development. Field Observations: • Perform on-site visits to selected guest houses to observe their operations and identify areas where sustainable practices can be implemented or improved. Data Analysis: • Analyze the collected data to identify common themes, challenges, and opportunities. This will help in formulating actionable recommendations for promoting sustainability in Lebanese guest houses.
