Remineralizing Effect of Topical Paste Grape Seeds Extract on Enamel: A Stereo microscopic Evaluation

Description :

Fluoride is the most used material for remineralization. However many studies have implicated that it had toxic side effects. In order to avoid that, plant based materials can act as a new modality for safer tooth remineralization technique. In this study, we are analyzing the efficacy of Grape seeds in the remineralization process of extracted premolars and comparing it to fluoride using a new technique which might be more accurate. After demineralizing the extracted premolars, the specimens are photographed through stereomicroscope to better evidence demineralized areas. A raster graphics editor software is used to analyze the pictures made for each specimen. After that, a topical paste grape seeds extract will be applied on the demineralized area of 26 premolars and fluoride varnish will be applied on the 26 other demineralized premolars. A second photograph is made, and the same software is used to compare the results.
