Explanatory models and current research in autism

Autism Spectrum Disorder is defined as a neurodevelopmental disorder affecting aspects of social interaction, social communication with others, as well as being characterized by sensory behavior disorders, and restricted and repetitive interests. Research in this field continues to grow, covering areas of neurobiological theories as well as intervention research. This teaching unit aims to present the latest advances in autism research and to outline the evolution of concepts in order to better identify effective intervention strategies, taking into account the uniqueness of each child.
