The course is dedicated to undergraduate students, but postgraduates and PhD candidates – everyone, who wants to improve his or her reasoning & argumentation skills is most welcome. The purpose of this course is to present some recent contributions to the argumentation theory, that are: developed argument analysis including the informal method of evaluation, and types of arguments with critical questions to each type. Therefore, it will include the introduction of currently widely developed approach of so-called argumentation schemes (D. Walton), diagramming argument (S. Thomas) with some most recent contributions to evaluating argument diagram (M. Tokarz). The course includes 5 interactive lectures with discussions and cases studies on the topics listed below. Before each lecture students are required to read the indicated literature (photocopies will be shared via e-mail).
