With a French State Diploma in Medicine earned in 1983 from the Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Marwan Najjar (FM, 1983) has assumed the position of CEO of the Saint George Hospital University Medical Center (SGHUMC) since June 2022. Prior to this, for 31 years, he held positions at Saudi Aramco Medical Services Organization (SAMSO) and Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare in Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Najjar embarked on his professional journey at SAMSO in 1991, assuming a series of leadership roles including Chief of Primary Care, Head of Internal Medicine, Chief of Rheumatology, Director of SAMSO’s Medical Technical Support, Medical Director of SAMSO, and Medical Director of Saudi Aramco Designated Facilities (MDF), overseeing over 80 contracted medical facilities throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Najjar specialized in internal medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in New Brunswick, USA. He then pursued advanced training in rheumatology and connective tissue diseases at the University of Tennessee in Memphis in 1990. Certified by the US Board of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, Dr. Najjar is a Diplomat of the American Boards of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology (FACR) and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP). In January 2012, he joined the American College of Physician Executives (ACPE) after graduating from the Executive Healthcare Leadership Program organized by ACPE.
