Comparison of the accuracy of digital impressions of a biologically oriented preparation (BOPT) using three different intraoral scanners: an in vivo study.
Description :
The aim of this study is to compare the accuracy of three different intraoral scanners with BOPT. In this perspective, the research will be conducted. Only one patient with single upper incisor restoration will be included in this study. A pre-operative conventional impression will be done and scanned with a desktop scanner (Ceramill map 600+, Amann Girbach, Austria) to design an interim restoration and print/mill it. According to Loi et al. guidelines, (2) one BOPT preparation will be done on a single tooth by a prosthodontist with more than 10 years of experience. The interim restoration will be relined intra-orally and placed for 6 weeks for the tissues to heal. After 6 weeks, a conventional impression will be performed (according to Loi et al. protocol) and will be scanned using a desktop scanner (Ceramill map 600+, Amann Girbach, Austria) to obtain the reference scan. Afterwards, 14 scans of each intraoral device are done: Trios 3 (3shape, Denmark), Heron IOS (3Disc, USA) and Helios 600 (Eighteeth, China). STL files will then be imported to inspection software program (Geomagic Control X,2022.1; 3D systems). In each group of scans, every .stl file will be compared to the reference scan and to each other’s. The comparison of the STL files will be done using a software (Geomagic ControlX, 2022.1;3D systems) that calculates the 3D deviations of accuracy between scans numerically.
