Varouj NERGUIZIAN (FSE, 1976)

Senior Advisor of the Board, Bank of Sharjah

Varouj Nerguizian joined Bank Paribas and was assigned to the Bank of Sharjah in the UAE, where he became General Manager in 1992 and served as CEO from 2018 to 2023. Since 2008, he has been the CEO of Emirates Lebanon Bank and is a founding member of Dana Gas. He was a member of the Management Board of Lycée Français de Sharjah from 1991 to 2002, becoming its President in 1998. In 2003, he founded and became Chairman of the Lebanese Education Fund SA (LEFSA). He is also a founding member and President of the Lycée Libanais Francophone Privé de Dubaï.

Nerguizian serves on the board of Growthgate and has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the American University of Sharjah as well as the Strategic Council of USJ. In 2023, he was awarded an honorary Doctorate Honoris Causa from USJ. He has received several distinctions, including Knight of the Order of Merit (France), Knight of the Order of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Cilicia, the Knight of the Order of Mekhitar Heratsi (Republic of Armenia), the Knight of the Order of Saint Gregory the Great (Vatican), and the Order of the Lebanese Emigrant.
