Film Business and Marketing
This course is designed to provide both business and film students with a systemaLc overview of the modern day filmed entertainment business. The analysis will not only cover the tradiLonal “Hollywood System” operaLng out of Los Angeles but will examine the independent film model as well. This course will take a criLcal look at the financing, producLon, markeLng, and distribuLon of filmed entertainment. ParLcular a^enLon will be focused on the various revenue streams inherent in the exploitaLon of feature films in both the domesLc marketplace and internaLonal arena. The primary objecLve of the course is to provide students with real life experiences, the pracLcal realiLes, and a keen understanding of how things actually work in the film business. The course will hopefully provide students with a requisite background and orientaLon that can lead to an entry-level posiLon with a film producLon or distribuLon company, an internaLonal sales organizaLon, or related support organizaLons.
