Speech and language therapy university clinics

This teaching unit is part of the curriculum for the initial training of speech therapists in semesters 7 and 8. It aims at developing in the student a clinical approach to speech therapy evaluation and intervention with patients presenting different communication/language disorders (oral or written). The trainee should also learn to take into account the patient’s context: family, school, and other members of the multidisciplinary team. It requires two prerequisites: practicum and internship 1 and 2 By the end if this teaching unit, the student will be able to: Competencies 1,4,5, and 6: Clinical approach, therapeutic relationship, research and professionalism Choose, explain and master the clinical approaches in terms of evaluation and intervention in the field of communication/language disorders (oral/written). Take into account the importance of the therapeutic relationship and ethics, using tangible reasoning and critical thinking based on scientific documents. Competencies 2 and 3: Collaboration and communication skills To collaborate with the various stakeholders (through specific and adapted oral/written interventions). To exchange information and set up coherent therapeutic goals enhancing communication and the overall progress of the patient.
