Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) delivered an outstanding performance at the international university tournament, Les Parisiennes 2026, one of Europe’s most competitive international university sports events, bringing together 15 leading institutions. USJ competed as the only non‑European university, representing Lebanon with distinction across multiple sports.

USJ captured the gold medal in the mixed relay, finishing ahead of University College London (second) and Amsterdam University College (third). The victory placed USJ at the top of the podium against elite European competition.

In handball, both USJ teams demonstrated resilience and skill. The men’s team opened with two decisive wins and finished third in their group, tied on points with the top two teams but narrowly edged out on goal difference. They rebounded in their placement match to secure fifth place overall, notably having defeated the eventual tournament champion in group play. The women’s team also finished third in their group with one win, one draw, and one loss, then won their placement game to claim fifth place.

In men’s football, USJ finished second in a five‑team group, level on points with the leader, before falling in the quarterfinals to an English opponent in challenging cold conditions for the Lebanese side. The team went on to secure fifth place in the overall standings.

USJ’s 43‑member delegation earned praise from tournament organizers for its professionalism, strict adherence to regulations, and high standard of play.

USJ showcased its academic and athletic excellence, highlighting the growth of Lebanese university sports and its ability to compete internationally.
