Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) has been ranked among the top 100 universities worldwide in the 2026 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), in the category “AI-Based Teaching and Learning Transformation.”
USJ ranked 75th globally in this category, which highlights the most innovative higher education institutions in integrating artificial intelligence to support learning, teaching, and pedagogical transformation.
This international recognition reflects USJ’s ongoing commitment to pedagogical innovation, digital transformation, and the development of responsible, human-centered educational practices. It also highlights the efforts deployed by the Center for Digital Innovation and Artificial Intelligence (CINIA), which supports the university community in the thoughtful and ethical integration of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence.
Through its training sessions, workshops, awareness initiatives, digital transformation projects, and dedicated teaching and research resources, CINIA actively contributes to strengthening digital competencies and promoting innovative pedagogical approaches across the University.
The WURI rankings stand out for their focus on real-world impact and universities’ ability to drive sustainable transformation in higher education. Submitted programs are evaluated according to three main pillars: “Innovativeness,” which recognizes pioneering content and processes; “Implementability,” which assesses the feasibility, effectiveness, and practical execution of initiatives; and “Impact,” which evaluates the institutional and societal influence of the projects developed.
This year, more than 13,211 innovative programs from universities around the world were evaluated, and the top initiatives were selected by panels of peer reviewers and international experts.
This ranking represents a recognition of the collaborative efforts led by faculties, professors, researchers, students, and all teams committed to modernizing academic practices and building a forward-looking university.
Saint Joseph University of Beirut and CINIA will continue their efforts to develop innovative initiatives that place artificial intelligence at the service of quality, inclusive, and sustainable education.
