Project mission

The overall objective of the LEB‘IN project is to stimulate win-win cooperation and strategic
partnership between Europe and Lebanon in the Health thematic priority and at integrating
Lebanon into the European Research Area, by strengthening Lebanon participation in the 7th Framework Programme, increasing Lebanon visibility of the European research arena and improving cooperation capacities.

Types of activities

Twinning activities, based on the joint research plan to be prepared and implemented jointly by USJ and its European partner, AMU. This activity will include, for example, exchange of researchers and young specialists and organisation of joint scientific workshops.
Large-scale networking & brokerage activities, which will be implemented on wide European and regional level, thus involving other European and regional organisations, thus extending the project impact. AMU and inno are pleased to open their scientific networks in Europe for USJ.
Exchange of researchers and young specialists and organisation of joint events such as summer school and an international conference
Training and coaching activities, that will aim to increase USJ understanding of FP7 in general and HEALTH Work programme in particular, build competences and enhance USJ participation in FP7.

Project impact

The project activities will strengthen health cooperation and research capacities of Lebanon prominent research center, USJ, bringing them at the highest level. It will complement the Research and Innovation activities described in the National Indicative Programmes and covered by the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instruments (ENPI). The project will also help to increase the job opportunities in Lebanon for young scientists, as they will benefit from better work conditions.
All in all, Lebanese research will be given a new impulse, Lebanese research capacities will be strengthened, Lebanese participation in the FP7 programme will be significantly improved, Lebanese involvement in the European Technology Platforms will be addressed and then increased, and Lebanese competences will have much better visibility in Europe, for the mutual benefits of both Lebanon and the European Union.
