Exploring the Psychological, Physical, Nutritional and Performance Dimensions of Ball Games Athletes in Lebanon

Description :

Ball games are physically demanding sports that emphasize both physical and mental aspects of performance. In recent years, the intersection of sports science, psychology, and nutrition has become an essential field of research, offering valuable insights into the well-being of athletes Understanding this intersection is crucial for the athletic performance that result. Athletes at least 18 years old, Lebanese citizens, and affiliated with Lebanese sports federations in Lebanon from both genders will be eligible to participate. The sample will include both professional and amateur athletes with at least 2 years of sports experience. A pretested questionnaire will be used and include sections on sociodemographic factors (age, gender, nationality, weight, height, marital status, address, household income, employment status) and dietary supplement use. Another section will cover sports involvement (years of practice, types of sports, weekly exercise duration, competition level, and ranking). Eating disorders will be assessed using the Eating Attitudes Test (EAT), validated in Arabic, and the Disordered Eating Screen for Athletes (DESA-6). The physical and medical tests to be performed encompass a comprehensive assessment of various fitness (muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and agility) and health parameters (respiratory and cardiovascular). Conducting such studies can contribute to the global body of sports science knowledge, offering a unique perspective from the Lebanese context. This can foster international collaborations and share best practices that benefit athletes worldwide.
