Measuring knowledge, attitudes, and practices of adolescents & young adults toward VCT: A scoping review, questionnaire development, and validation.

Description :

Despite the progress made in the fight against HIV and AIDS, the pandemic is far from over, and the world yet has to reach the 2025 targets set in the Global AIDS Strategy 2021-2026. Voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) is a cheap and efficient tool that helps in the prevention and control of the infection; it has been the subject of multiple studies. However, there currently exists no validated tool that measures knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of adolescents and young adults toward VCT. This is a segment of the general population which is showing increasing rates of new infections, especially in the Middle East and North Africa region. In this study, we aim to carry out a scoping review which aims to inform how to best measure KAP of 15- to 34-year-olds toward VCT. The results of this review will then inform the development of a new tool, based on health behavior theories, which we will then attempt to validate and use on a nationally-representative study.
