USJ Academics Appointed to Key Roles in AUF’s Regional Initiatives

The Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) recently appointed academic leaders from Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ) to the Regional Conference of Rectors Middle East (C2RMO), with the aim of advancing research, and enhancing quality assurance and conflict resolution efforts in the region.

Richard Maroun, Head of the Research Commission of the C2RMO – AUF

Richard Maroun, currently serving as the Vice-Rector for Research at USJ, has assumed the role of Head of the Research Commission of C2RMO – AUF which consists of Maroun and 7 experts in the field.

This Commission is tasked with promoting discourse and reflection, and to suggest strategies for advancing research within the regional French-speaking scientific community, as well as promoting French-speaking research in the Middle East. In coordination with the Executive Board, the Commission is tasked with establishing and overseeing a directory of French-speaking researchers and publications in the Middle East.

Nada Moghaizel-Nasr, Member of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Commission

Prof. Nada Moghaizel-Nasr, Rector’s Delegate and Honorary Dean of the Faculty of Education at USJ, has been named a member of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Commission of C2RMO – AUF.

This Commission focuses on assisting member institutions by offering tools for implementing a quality assurance policy and deliberating on accreditation processes.

Johanna Hawari Bourjeily, Member of the Mediation and Conflict Management Commission

Johanna Hawari Bourjeily, Director of the Professional Mediation Centre (CPM) at USJ, has been appointed as a member of the Mediation and Conflict Management Commission by C2RMO - AUF.

The Commission consists of a team leader and six experts dedicated to promoting a culture of mediation and peace. Their objectives include proposing initiatives to foster peaceful conflict resolution within the university community, utilizing a variety of mediation tools while considering the specificities of the Francophone approach.
