This course raises the students’ awareness of the problematic aspects of deafness and ill hearing. This course is a multi-reference initiation into the problematic aspect of deafness. It aims at providing the students with a brief but complete presentation of the different fields in which this problematic issue appears. The medical aspect first that concerns anatomy, physiology and pathology of the organ that is touched. The technical aspect then, that concerns the field of tests and corrective or palliative devices. The personal aspect also that treats the repercussions of deafness on the person and his/her surrounding. The educational aspect finally that presents the educational and school treatments and discusses their relevance.
