This course aims at getting students familiar with the concept of liaison interpretation, and to help them make the difference between this specific type and other types of interpretation. Texts are translated from English and French into Arabic and vice-versa. Students are asked to practice short-term memorization of texts related to a selection of themes or short media news. They read media news at home in any of the languages used, recite the news to their classmates in the same language, then the other students render them orally in another language. They are also asked to simulate liaison interpretation during interviews about the selection of themes commonly used in the labor market. As the course progresses, segments of sentences that are learned by heart then translated become longer, and memorization texts and interviews become more complex and specialized.
