Multiple implant placement with simultaneous soft tissue augmentation using a volume-stable collagen matrix compared to autogenous connective tissue grafts: a randomized controlled clinical study

Description :

We propose in the present protocol to evaluate the efficacy of volume stable collagen matrix (VMCX) to increase the thickness and height of soft tissue when placed at the time of multiple implant placement, as compared to subepithelial connective tissue graft (SCTG). A randomized controlled clinical study comprising at least ten implants per group for a total of 20 implants will be conducted. The participants will belong to the pool of patients presenting at the department of Periodontology, Faculty of Dental Medicine, Saint-Joseph University (Beirut, Lebanon), and seeking treatment of multiple implant placement at the left and right posterior mandibular sites requiring soft tissue volume increase. The primary outcome will be the soft tissue thickness, measured at implant placement and 3 months post-surgery (at second stage surgery). The secondary outcomes will be: soft tissue volumetric analysis, keratinized tissue height, time required for the performance of the graft and histological analysis.
