The Fondation USJ was established by Prof. Salim Daccache s.j. in 2015 with the aim of raising funds for the University’s development and global outreach, and maintaining its academic excellence.
The Foundation is the main body within Saint-Joseph University of Beirut that is attentive to the needs of its students, its Community and its hospital, Hôtel-Dieu de France (HDF). Through its projects and programs, the Foundation aims to:
• Raising funds to support students, teaching excellence and research.
• Building partnerships with donors and businesses.
• Gaining loyalty among USJ and HDF donors.
• Capitalizing on USJ's international network of alumni, friends and partners.
To make a donation to the Fondation USJ is to make excellence in education accessible to all talents, to promote social and cultural diversity, and to maintain USJ’s status as a leading university in research and education, both regionally and internationally. Given the Lebanese and regional socio-economic situation, the USJ stands by its students’ side, offering them unconditional support. As such, a budget of $20 million is allocated to more than 3,000 students per year , enabling them to pursue a quality higher education, and to become tomorrow's leaders.

When I approached USJ for the establishment of a Scholarship Fund and the means to help USJ students, the answer was that USJ “greatly appreciates my concern for solidarity with students through my interest in the establishment of a Scholarship Fund.” For me, this solidarity is a moral duty, an obligation, a pleasure, and an enrichment to give back what I have received, as very well said by Victor Hugo: our mind is enriched by what we receive, our heart by what we give...
