Anti-smoking campaign

Prohibiting smoking in public places.
Wednesday November 24, 2021

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is necessary for us to protect our health; however, we notice a resurgence of smoking in different places. We appeal to your moral conscience and to your sense of responsibility to correct this trend.

We would like to remind you that since October 2021 the Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth (Saint-Joseph University of Beirut) has applied the law 174/2011 prohibiting smoking in public places.

It is therefore strictly forbidden to smoke in all USJ buildings and outbuildings (offices, classrooms, cafeterias, gardens, balconies, health centers, etc.), as well as outside the buildings and premises, within a 9-meter radius from any connecting door, including emergency exits. This decision applies to students, instructors, employees and visitors.

In order to promote a safe working environment for all our university community, kindly respect and apply this decision.

Best,

Nadine Riachi Haddad
