Human rhinoscleroma: Klebsiella rhinoscleromatis genomics and understanding Mikulicz cells biology.

Description :

The objectives of this project are dual. The first objective is to complete a detailed comparative analysis of KR genomes between them and relative to K. pneumoniae by collecting new clinical strains to expand our collection of KR strains. The second objective is to further characterise the immune response to KR infection, especially by dissecting the role of CCR2 in the recruitment of Mikulicz cells and characterising the nature of these cells. These objectives have been designed by considering the specific format of this thesis in co-supervision between Sorbonne Université and the Saint Joseph University of Beirut with experiments being carried out on both sites. Moreover, they take advantage of the medical background of the candidate and, because of his studies in Egypt, his good knowledge and connection with the Egyptian medical system to obtain clinical strains and rhinosceroma biopsies.
