Visual Impairment: Knowledge and Interventions

This course unit introduces students to the understanding of visual impairments by clearly distinguishing between blindness and low vision and presenting the main types of visual disability. It raises awareness of how these impairments affect a child’s overall development—sensorial, motor, cognitive, and academic. It also prepares students to identify specific educational needs and explore major intervention strategies. Particular attention is given to assistive techniques and tools that help adapt learning environments and promote independent access to knowledge for learners with visual impairments.
