What is EC²?

The Competencies and Entrepreneurship Center

The Competencies and Entrepreneurship Center EC² was founded by Saint Joseph University - USJ in October 2019 in collaboration with the Faculty of Business Administration and Management. EC² establishes a framework for USJ students and young graduates that aspire to become entrepreneurs. In that perspective, EC² seeks to provide them with advice and guidance to support their efforts for their new enterprise.

EC² offers five consecutive training programs for Entrepreneurship, starting with the first one “Creating my own business”. This pilot program officially launched on May 9th, 2020, is a 30-hour entrepreneurial online training program for USJ students and young graduates.

Several years of experience in entrepreneurial activities

In recent years and prior to the foundation of the Competencies and Entrepreneurship Center of USJ, there had been a growing emphasis on spreading the entrepreneurship culture among USJ students. USJ is always keen on offering entrepreneurship ideathons, hackathons, social entrepreneurship training programs and workshops, in order to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to begin successful enterprises.

In addition, the Center holds entrepreneurship competitions and events, which are funded by external partners. These competitions give students practice to develop their pitching skills and provide them with networking opportunities with possible donors and mentors. The following competitions take place at USJ on an annual basis since 2017:

  • Maroun N. Chammas Recognition Award
  • Resource Group Innovation Award
  • Prix Béchara et Carmen Obegi pour la créativité et l’innovation
  • Prix de l’Association des industriels de la Békaa
