“O7 Responding to the War in Lebanon” – 2024

Mission Statement:
Founded in 2006 during the war, Opération 7e jour (O7) was created to assist individuals in need. Since then, its sole mission has been to help vulnerable communities across Lebanon through volunteering. As the country now faces the reality of war, O7 is once again stepping up to support those in need by mobilizing students from various faculties to provide assistance based on their areas of expertise.
The first phase focused on assisting displaced families affected by the conflict, beginning with support for the Jesuit Center. The second phase involved collaborating with the Saint Joseph University of Beirut to help students impacted by the conflict and ensure they have the necessary resources to continue their studies.
In the third phase, O7 expands its efforts to support additional centers facing urgent needs, including 250 displaced individuals in Sin el Fil and 50 disadvantaged families affected by the economic and humanitarian crisis.

Overview of the Situation:
In response to the rapidly deteriorating situation, O7 partnered with the Jesuit Center to stabilize material supplies, assist in overcoming the crisis, and shelter displaced families.
Next, O7 assessed the needs of displaced USJ students, providing laptops, tablets, and personal items to ensure they could continue their studies.
O7 is expanding its mission by collaborating with other centers in need, many of which have shifted from schools to shelters. While NGOs are providing essential aid, secondary needs are quickly becoming critical.
Institutions such as the School of Engineering of Beirut (ESIB) and the Higher Institute of Religious Studies (ISSR) have also offered financial and moral support to refugees.
