Dr Mabel Aoun graduated in 2004 as a nephrologist from the Saint-Joseph University of Beirut completed her fellowship in nephrology, kidney transplantation renal pathology in Paris. She was the head of Department of Nephrology at Saint-Georges Ajaltoun Hospital in Lebanon between 2006 2022. In September 2022, she moved to France and has been practicing at AUB Santé, Lorient. She is currently an Associate Professor at the faculty of medicine of Saint-Joseph University of Beirut and she is involved in mentoring the medical theses of medical students. Her main academic lectures target chronic kidney disease, drugs and kidney, cystic kidney diseases, hypertension emergencies, acid-base disturbances, renal anemia and hyperuricemia. She is the author of more than 40 peer-reviewed publications, first author of 23, a reviewer for several international journals and editor for Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation, BMC Nephrology and PLOS ONE. She led the development of a national policy at the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health upgrading water quality and guidelines in Lebanese hemodialysis units in 2014. In June 2020, she received her Master of Public Health and Health Management and Policy from the American University of Beirut. She received her diploma in systematic reviews and meta-analysis from the Paris-Cite University in France in June 2023. She has a strong commitment to research in nephrology, particularly in areas where she has good expertise such as hemodialysis, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, epidemiology and public health.
